What is an eTXT?

eTXT internet messaging on every mobile

An eTXT is a message which can be sent and received seamlessly as an SMS, an email or a chat message.

Using our Message Optimiser (MO) platform, African Mobile Network Operators can enable their subscribers to send and receive email and chat messages to and from any mobile phone. No need for downloads to the phone, internet or PC access or change in user behaviour.

How does it work?

Using our Message Optimiser (MO) platform, African Mobile Network Operators, enable their subscribers to send and receive email and chat messages to and from any mobile phone.

When a network subscriber sends an SMS to one of the local numbers allocated to our service standard long format or suffixed short code, the message is captured within the message centre (SMSC) and sent via the internet to our servers for processing and routing.

The eTXT message is delivered as an email or chat message according to a set of preset rules determined by the network and choices made by the subscriber. The recipient will be unaware of the device used to create the message and can reply in the normal way.

Which mobile users would want to use eTXTs?

ForgetMeNot Software's eTXT service enables citizens of many developing nations to take the first steps in the digital world. For example our subsidary ForgetMeNot Africa is helping people all over Africa to cross the digital divide in Africa.
